Hydra

The Hydra Logo

Hydra is a weapons manufacturer in Borderlands V. Hydra weapons tend to have lower fire-rate but also fire multiple projectiles compared to other guns of similar level rating. Their firearms can often be identified by an white/gold finish, with grey or white accents. They follow a Ancient Greek and Roman themed naming scheme.

The main gimmick of Hydra weapons is that they always fire more than one projectile per shot(typically anywhere from 3 to 7) at no increased ammo cost per shot, but they suffer from high recoil and poor accuracy. The user can deal extremely high damage in a short period, albeit very inaccurately, making them ideal for medium to close range encounters

Gun Appearance by Quality

• White: Rusted, pale grey metal, often with the Hydra logo on the magazine.
• Green:White and dark gunmetal finish, similar to that of Vladof purples.
• Blue: Grey-Gold gunmetal marked with a Hydra's 3-headed snake logo.
• Purple: Shiny gold and a black finish with a logo consisting of a grey 7-headed Hydra with the Hydra logo superimposed over it.

Trivia

• it is revealed through radio ads in borderlands V that the founder of the company is Invictus Hydra.
• The naming scheme and aesthetic of Hydra are similar to Atlas from the original borderlands.
• The Hydra was a many headed snake from Greek literature, hence the company makes weapons that fire multiple shots.
