Cryo weapons are capable of freezing enemies, causing them to stop in their tracks. The cryo status effect will greatly slow down the movement speed and attack speed of enemies. Cryo weapons also have a listed cryo efficiency, which showcases at what % of a target's max health will they become frozen solid(ie 20% efficiency means they become frozen when lowered to 20% of their max health). The death animation from cryo damage is a scene where a layer of ice covers the victim and then shatters.
Ice can be formed by many objects and creatures:
- Guns are the most obvious, as cryo can be found firing from any weapon type.
- Barrels which are white in color contain ice and when they explode, they freeze all enemies within the blast radius when ignited.
- Grenades can also deal Cryo damage if a "Cryo" upgrade is on the equipped grenade mod.
- Shields can also produce an frost burst or nova when depleted.
- Creatures can also have the ability to generate cryo. All creatures capable of creating ice are also immune to ice.
- Action skills can be enhanced by a cryo artifact, creating the freezing effect when used on enemies.
